About Irina

I am a clinical psychologist in private practice in North Sydney, working with adults who want to understand and meaningfully change persistent psychological, emotional and relational patterns.

My areas of particular interest include complex and attachment trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociation and high-functioning anxiety. I also provide clinical supervision and consultation to psychologists and other mental health professionals.

Many of my clients are capable people who function well in demanding personal or professional roles. Despite that, they may be living with anxiety, perfectionism, shame, emotional disconnection, relationship difficulties or the ongoing effects of earlier adverse experiences.

Some come to me after previous therapy has helped them develop considerable insight but has not fully shifted the underlying patterns.

Professional Experience

I have worked in psychology for more than a decade across private practice, not-for-profit, psychiatric inpatient care and international humanitarian settings.

My professional background includes clinical and project management work with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders. Working in complex environments strengthened my capacity to think clearly under pressure, and understand people within their broader social and cultural contexts.

Alongside individual therapy, I provide clinical supervision, EMDR consultation and reflective case consultation. I am an EMDR Association of Australia Accredited Consultant and a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor.

How I Work

My style is direct and collaborative, but not prescriptive or highly structured.

My work is depth-oriented and trauma-focused. It draws on evidence-based psychological treatment, attachment theory, contemporary trauma research and neuroscience-informed approaches to emotional and nervous system regulation.

My primary therapeutic approaches include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy and Deep Brain Reorienting, integrated with attachment-informed, parts-oriented and other evidence-based approaches.

Who I Work With

A significant part of my practice involves supporting women who are recovering from trauma and working to rebuild their lives, relationships and sense of self. Many are also navigating diagnosed or previously unrecognised autism and ADHD, including the complex interaction between neurodivergence, attachment experiences, chronic stress and trauma.

My practice may be a good fit for adults who:

• Are highly motivated to engage in meaningful psychological change

• Want to understand and address the processes underlying their current difficulties

• Have benefited from previous talk therapy but continue to experience persistent patterns

• Are open to depth-oriented, experiential and somatically informed psychological work

• Need treatment for complex trauma, attachment difficulties or dissociation

My practice is inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming. I work with people from varied personal, professional and cultural backgrounds, including medical and mental health professionals.
